Project duration: 2021-2022

Execution budget: €134,283.00

DESCRIPTION: ISFOC participates in the COMETA project, whose main objective is to develop an intelligent and advanced management system for energy communities, hosted in the cloud. This system, through its predictive generation capacity and modelling of different consumptions (domestic, electric vehicle chargers, thermal loads for heating community inertia tanks, battery storage), applying modern machine learning, big data, and cloud computing techniques, will be able to optimise energy use and minimise the return on investment of installations. Additionally, the system will also manage energy exchange between different energy communities using blockchain techniques to ensure transparency and reliability of energy transactions.

To achieve this objective, the project aims to cover the following specific goals:

  • Development of a centralised, intelligent, and advanced management system, hosted in the cloud, that facilitates the evolution of energy communities by taking the current legal framework as a reference and laying the technological foundations for their development to make them a key piece in changing the current energy system, optimising energy use and minimising the return on investment of installations.
  • Development of a prototype node locally located in the energy communities as part of the generation system that will serve as a mediator between the platform and the devices of these energy communities through a web application to make data accessible to users.
  • Characterisation and development of software modules that allow simulating the behaviour of different types of energy communities, both residential and industrial.

The COMETA project is part of the call for Aid for the Support of Innovative Business Groups (AEI) from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MINCOTUR) for the year 2021, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The main objective of these aids is to strengthen business groups and improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The COMETA project is subsidised by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MINCOTUR).
