DESCRIPTION: ISFOC leads the OPTIMA project, whose main objective is the design, prototyping and verification of a next-generation complete photovoltaic system for self-consumption, adapted for installation on large flat roofs, mainly commercial and industrial, which are associated with high energy consumption and distinguished by high efficiency. The aim is to maximise electricity generation by applying the latest advances in photovoltaic, mechanical, electronic and computational technologies, as well as their intelligent application in buildings.

The specific objectives include the development of each of the subsystems: adapted bifacial module, specific tracker for roofs with adapted control, and optimised inverter for bifacial technology.

The expected result is a unique photovoltaic system on the market that will bring the advantages of large photovoltaic parks installed in rural areas to urban self-consumption photovoltaic installations, making the most efficient use of the solar energy received. It is seen as an optimal solution for Energy Communities.

The OPTIMA project is part of the public aid call for public-private collaboration projects, from the State Programme to Promote Scientific-Technical Research and its Transfer, of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The main objective of these grants is to advance the incorporation of scientific-technical knowledge and results that enable the validation and pre-competitive development of new technologies, products and services, creating the right context to stimulate the generation of a critical mass in interdisciplinary R&D&I for their application, transfer, problem-solving and generation of results both in the technological and innovation trajectories of companies and in the market.

These projects aim to mobilise private investment, generate employment, and improve the country's technological balance, as well as strengthen the international leadership capacity of the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System and its agents, contributing to improving the competitiveness of the business sector.

The OPTIMA project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
