ISFOC undertakes the last stage of the Project SOLARPLUG

The Institute for Concentration Photovoltaics Systems is performing the last stage of the project “SOLARPLUG: Experimental Development of a stand-alone system with tracking system”. In this last stage, once the weather station and the two-axis solar tracker prototypes are built, both functionality and reliability will be validated in order to refine the designs and the solutions adopted.

The general objective is to verify the correct functioning of the system, ensuring compliance with the defined specifications for each of the components: solar tracking, monitoring and remote control, storing and energy supply of the stand-alone system, and verification of the meteorological data collected.

SOLARPLUG Project’s main goals are:
  • Design of a more economical and higher reliability solar tracker, suitable for isolated self-consumption, which can be used for both concentration photovoltaics and conventional photovoltaics energy, including a storage capacity,
  • Design of a weather station consisting of a small tracker self-powered with the same design philosophy,
  • Design characterization and validation in order to improve the reliability and quality of the final product.
The project will have duration of 8 months during 2016.

The total investment approved comes to 113.374,88€, 60% financed by the Support Programme for the Entrepreneurial Innovation in Castilla-La Mancha, European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), FEDER Operating System 2014-2020 of Castilla-La Mancha.
