Laboratory for Module Manufacturing and Verification

This laboratory has been recently established and currently has the necessary equipment for the manufacturing of PV modules in a research environment, as well as specialised equipment for module verification.

It features a large-scale PV module laminator (with a useful lamination area of 1.6m x 2.7m), enabling the production of both traditional modules and glass-glass modules with various characteristics and shapes. Additionally, it is equipped with tools for manufacturing PV laminates using composites for integration into construction elements, as well as dedicated equipment for moulding and producing other components of PV systems for building integration.

For verification, the laboratory is equipped with a daytime electroluminescence measurement system, which allows the detection of defects in modules under any lighting and operational conditions.

The laminator and manufacturing equipment are used to test and develop some of the module repair techniques being investigated within the project. The electroluminescence equipment is used both for screening techniques and for verifying the modules after the repair processes.
