ISFOC Hosts CPV4H2 Project Participants Meeting

On the 15th of November, 2018, a working meeting of the “CPV4H2 - Pilot System for Solar Hydrogen Production with High Conversion Efficiency using Photovoltaic Concentration” project was held at the Institute of Concentration Photovoltaic Systems. The meeting took place at ISFOC’s facilities in Puertollano, where technical project details and coordination among consortium members for its successful development were shared. The consortium has a strong regional component, comprising ISFOC, a company belonging to the Castilla-La Mancha Finance Institute Group, dedicated to R&D in photovoltaic technologies, energy efficiency and smart sensors, and acting as the project coordinator and leader; BSQ Solar, a manufacturer of high concentration photovoltaic systems based in Yeles (Toledo); and H2B2, a technology company based in Madrid that promotes, develops, finances, designs, integrates, builds, operates, and maintains hydrogen production systems based on water electrolysis.

The project also benefits from the external collaboration of the consulting firm AROSA I+D for administrative project management tasks. Additionally, the project has technical collaborations with the National Hydrogen Centre (CNH2) and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) through the Laboratory for Renewable Energy Science and Engineering (LRESE).

The main objective of the project is to build a first low-power system that achieves maximum efficiency in converting solar energy to hydrogen. A mathematical model of the hydrogen production system will be developed using water electrolysis powered by high concentration photovoltaic electricity. Furthermore, the pilot system will be fully monitored, allowing the production and operational models previously developed to be validated and contrasted.

CPV4H2 is a national project funded by the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology) through grants aimed at promoting regional cooperation in research and development (FEDER INTERCONECTA Programme). File Identification No.: EXP-00110833 / ITC-20181066.
