The Institute for Concentration Photovoltaics Systems (ISFOC) is a company incorporated in the Grupo Instituto de Finanzas de Castilla-La Mancha, adscribed to the Consejería de Desarrollo Sostenible of Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha. ISFOC focuses its activities on the Research and Development of photovoltaic solar energy, energy efficiency and distributed sensor systems, as well as the development of novel green hydrogen generation systems.
ISFOC headquarters as well as its laboratories and the main photovoltaic plants are located in Puertollano, where all the activities carried out by the Institute are coordinated.
ISFOC establishment in Castilla la Mancha has involved the main vehicle to develop the concentration photovoltaic (CPV) technology, which is the chief goal. In order to generate key knowledge on this technology, ISFOC has at everybody's disposal several photovoltais concentration plants, working since 2008, which incopporate different technologies available in the market.
At the present moment, ISFOC CPV power plants are including various technologies such as Isofoton form Spain,m Solfocus from EE.UU and Concentrix from Germany. Besides, in 2012, it will be finished the construction and will start the operation of a new plant of 1600kw with different techologies form companies like Concentrix, Emcore from EE.UU, ArimaEco from Taiwan and REnovalia from Spain. The objective of these plants is to help and assist the industries in the development of this technology. It will asdo be studied very valuable information obtained in the process such as the reliability, suitability and production of each technology.
